1970 thru 1973 Factory Hurst Back-up Switch
These things are pretty
straight forward and work well OK but
they do have a tendency to get pushed backward and out of
adjustment after a while. Held in by a simple tang in the metal
bracket is a good plan if the hole diameter that the bracket fits
in is the right size. If it's a little too big the tang won't apply the
proper pressure and it will back out.
Later I'll add some close-ups of the tang and a image that shows
a very simple fix for this problem.
To install this switch first install the round bracket with square
to square opening. Open side of bracket goes to round hole.

Next insert the switch but be sure to have the trans in reverse gear
so that you do not insert it too far.
Ideally you should have someone holding the shift handle in reverse.

Next is a shot with a lower dust
boot installed.
The boot has a small slit that
allows the switch receptacle to
pass thru.
This allows the switch to be
installed and make contact
with the leg without
interference from the boot.
